FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant
Town of Santa Claus Awarded 2022 the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG)
The Town of Santa Clause was recently awarded $89,418 from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The AFG Program provides financial assistance directly to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated emergency medical service (EMS) organizations, and State Fire Training Academies (SFTAs) for critical training and equipment. The SCVFD was in dire need to replace its 19-year-old (shared) self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and tanks, which placed their firefighters at extreme risk. This funding will enable decreased risk of injury that can cause manpower issues. It will also decrease the injury or death risk to civilians by offering longer SAR times.
